You may have noticed at our recent services that we haven't been using the main organ.
The reason is that the console (where the organist sits and plays) is currently undergoing renovations by Grant Smalley, who has 'suspended' his retirement to take on this project. When he is done, we will have computerised controls allowing much more flexibility and reliability; the old controls were some 60 years old and increasingly prone to failure.
Our Casavant organ is not only one of the largest in BC, it is a significant work of art in its own right, and has been played by some of the world's best organists over the years in recitals, as well as providing music for
generations of St John's parishioners.
