Advent and Christmas and the singing of carols at this season remind us of the rich potential in blending faith and spirituality and the arts, whether classical or popular. My Dancing Day, sung here by celebrated English folk singer Maddy Prior backed by the upbeat Carnival Band is an English 19th century carol that celebrates the Holy Birth through the eyes and mind of the infant Jesus through the metaphor of an invitation "to my dance" addressed to his beloved.
