In the midst of the coldest and darkest part of the year, as the days continue to get shorter, we sometimes need a reminder that this season is not the only one, that the warmth and light of the sun will again return. It's why so many spiritual traditions have 'festivals of light' during the fall and winter time, to offer that reminder - just as the Christian 'reimagining' of a pagan solstice festival became our observance of Christmas - a sign of hope, and a reminder of God's love for the whole world.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15.13
