We acknowledge that we operate the Food Bank on the traditional and ancestral lands of the Lekwungen-speaking peoples, today known as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations. We also have volunteers and partners living and working in the Greater Victoria area and recognize the WSANEC Nations (Tsartlip, Pauquachin, Tsawout and Tseycum) on the Saanich Peninsula as well as the Nations to our west (Sc’ianew, T’Sou-ke, Pacheedaht, Malahat and Penelekut). We aspire to working in partnership with First Nations and urban indigenous peoples in the spirit of reconciliation.
The Food Bank at St. John’s has been open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, serving guests outdoors on the Mason Street side of the church.
The Food Bank offers guests a selection of produce, bread, and usually some protein items.
- Guests may choose from a menu of staple foods and hygienic items.
- Guests may instead choose a pre-made hamper of items that is ready to take home.
