Our motivation to behave is on a continuum that is from negative consequences (punishment) to deeply held principles. The greatest principle is that of love. We are loved by God and God has made us one family. Ephesians teaches us that, "We are to be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love." The Gospel teaches us that Jesus is the Bread of Life. When we eat of the bread of Jesus, we are brought into the presence of God where justice, peace, kindness and love exist -- eternally. Our lives are transformed by love. As we love one another, we love God. When we love God, we are the bread of peace, justice, kindness and love to our neighbours, to our community, to our world.
