Saturday morning, it wasn't my alarm that work me. It was birds, singing away, chirping their delight that the sun was appearing.
I wasn't awake enough to recognize the Creator in that moment.
When my eyes were open a little later, I was scrolling through facebook and saw the image above and read the quote from American writer, Terry Tempest Williams:
Once upon a time, ... there was a the simple understanding that to sing at dawn and to sing at dusk was to heal the world through joy.
The birds still remember what we have forgotten, that the world is meant to be celebrated.
I thought back to the songs that had woken me a few hours earlier. That's when I realized the gift of that brief moment ... when my sleep-fogged brain paid attention enough to allow my heart to quietly revel in their joyful sound.
